How do we find "unread messages" on this new forum layout? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but can't seem to figure out what has replaced the old little yellow folders that used to alert to...

I don't like that mobile view. I just can't get on with it at all - mobile is meant to be simpler isn't it? Anyway, I always click on the desktop choice instead.

Yeah, it is not simpler - very hard to navigate. I would think that if we were not viewing on a mobile device, then the forum software should present 'desktop' as the default.
